Well kiss my grits, have you met Miss Lou? Perhaps it’s time to experience what living in the South in the 1800’s was all about. Three Innkeeping “neighbors” have joined forces to allow you to do just that. You’ll experience the city, the country and in-between. Back in the day, it was not uncommon for wealthy aristocrats of the south to visit a second home located in Louisiana or Mississippi along the river or in the big cities. This afforded business partners, who were often family members, the ability to travel between their plantation locations and the city or vice versa. While in the city for example, they marketed their cotton or sugar cane and generally remained there during the off-season. Travel was not a matter of a few hours, but a few days or weeks. And so these families found it more convenient to have dual residency. In other situations, families just went for a visit to see relatives or friends… and stayed and stayed! Now you can recreate the experience with a package that three good friends and Innkeepers have put together for those on a road trip through the Deep South.

Your Meet Miss Lou package includes:

• Two-night stay at the Grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast in New Orleans, Louisiana with a Garden District Walking Tour and Streetcar passes for 2 days of unlimited riding.
• Two-night stay at the Stockade Bed and Breakfast in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with passes to the Old Governor’s Mansion and Old State Capital. (Or substitute Magnolia Mound Plantation and the Rural Life Museum on Mondays).
• Two-night stay at the Devereaux Shields House Bed and Breakfast in Natchez, Mississippi with a choice of a horse drawn carriage tour of downtown Natchez included (two tickets per package) or a tour of 2 Antebellum Homes

Rate for Meet Miss Lou:  High Season: $579 per person plus applicable taxes, double occupancy, October 1 – May 31; Low Season: $499 per person plus applicable taxes, double occupancy, June 1 – September 30; for a boutique/standard queen accommodation. Room upgrades may be accommodated for added cost. The package is subject to availability; some holidays, special events, and citywide convention dates may be excluded. This package includes staying at two South Louisiana B&Bs and gives you the opportunity to experience a taste of Louisiana culture in two areas of the state – Baton Rouge, the Capital City of Louisiana, a short drive to River Road plantations; and Cajun Country with a Crawfish Excursion (seasonal) or Cajun Meal in Kaplan, La.

The Stockade Bed and Breakfast, Baton Rouge, Louisiana:

Stay in this historic bed and breakfast located on the Civil War Highland Stockade site which was once located on its grounds. Baton Rouge is the capitol of Louisiana; explore historic and modern-day attractions. Your 2-night stay includes two passes to the Rural Life Museum and Old State Capitol (except on Mondays visit Magnolia Mound Plantation since the Old State Capitol is closed). You may also want to take a day trip to River Road plantations (not included in price).

Crawfish Haven/Mrs. Rose’s Bed and Breakfast, Kaplan, Louisiana:

Stay in an authentic Acadian home situated on 2 acres and built in 1903, nestled in the middle of Cajun Country. Your 2-night stay includes a Crawfish Excursion for two persons (December – May). The crawfish caught during the excursion may be boiled for you to enjoy (additional price). When crawfish are not in season (June – November), enjoy a Cajun Meal for 2 cooked by the owner of the B&B, Barry Toups, who has won numerous awards for his cooking skills.

Accommodations are for double occupancy; for a standard queen accommodation. Room upgrades may be accommodated for added cost. Mother’s Day Package

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11, 2025! What do moms want for Mother’s Day? Many want rest, relaxation and to feel special. Book this package anytime between May 5th and May 15th – requires a 2-night stay. Choose any available room at The Stockade Bed and Breakfast during those dates, then Add to Reservation the Mother’s Day Package which will give Mom a small floral bouquet, chocolate truffles, and a bottle of wine or champagne. Louisiana Staycation Package

Available June 1 – August 31
Whatever your reason for “getting away”, The Stockade Bed and Breakfast is your home away from home.
