“Perfect” (5 star review)
We kicked off our 10 year wedding anniversary getaway in Baton Rouge, the Stockade was absolutely perfect. Everyone was so accommodating, breakfast was delicious and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Loved it!!

Great experience and great wedding! (5 star review)
I would say this was a wonderful experience. I decided to have my wedding at the Stockade and it was the best decision. This location, although near the road, is so quiet and peaceful. There were other guests staying but the noise was little to none. The breakfast is really good as well. Fresh fruit and freshly cooked savory items. The wedding aspect was great. They arrange for the cake and set up. It just made the day less stressful than it could have been. I am still talking about this place because I was so impressed. I don’t have anything to compare it to but the couple in my wedding party has stayed in some before and they said it was one of the best they stayed in.

“A peaceful experience” (5-Star Review)
My husband and I stayed the weekend for our Birthday/valentines celebration. The accommodations were wonderful. The Innkeeper Mrs Janice is sweet and welcoming. On Friday she had a fire in the fireplace which my husband and I sat for a while wince was so cold out. The house is cozy and has a homey feel. We stayed in the Garden room his time so we could relax and use the garden tub. Breakfast was delicious on both mornings. Both nights we walked across the street To Sammy’s restaurant. The food, drinks and atmosphere was great. We did have to wait 30 each night for a table but we sat at the bar while waiting. Thanks for a great weekend.

“Simply love this place” (5-Star Review)
My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary “staycation” (it was actually October 2016 despite the review saying 2017). We lived in Baton Rouge but have recently re-located out of state, we still recommend it to everyone. First of all the location is great, located on historic Highland Road, but still tucked away so that you don’t feel like your in a very busy area. Sammy’s across the street is always a good meal and a popular spot, and if that doesn’t tickle your fancy there are so many things in the area not to mention close proximity to LSU campus which is usually a must see for visitors to the area. I’d visited this place a few times during “White Light Night” and various other art hop type events that happen all up and down Highland, I thought it was a great spot. So I was thrilled when my husband thought of it for our 10 year anniversary. We chose the Garden Room, it was lovely! Spacious, cozy, everything you’d want to have at a B&B. Loved the decor and details. Great Jacuzzi tub, nice balcony as well. We got an hors d’oeuvres package with champagne to celebrate which was a nice touch! The common spaces here and outdoor space is lovely as well. At night the back patio was lit up very prettily with white lights and the. Indoors, the spacious living room is a nice place to relax. Breakfast the next morning was perfect, it was a blueberry french toast, still kicking myself for not having seconds for some reason. We enjoyed breakfast with the other couples that had stayed there as well. A fun couple from the area, a couple from the UK and then another from South Carolina I believe it was. The owner and her husband are very kind and accommodating. Anyway, I could keep writing stuff and you could keep reading it, or you could just go book a room and have a nice relaxing weekend yourself! Enjoy! 🙂

“Excellent alternative to the “chain” hotels in Baton Rouge” (5-Star Review)
As frequent visitors to Baton Rouge, but first time guests at this lovely B&B, we very much enjoyed our recent stay at the Stockade. It’s a great alternative to the “chain” hotels and I would recommend it to both business and casual travelers. Last, but certainly not least, the bed was very comfortable! We hope they’ll have room for us on our next visit to Red Stick.

We have been treated like family for almost 10 years. Our first stay, when our sons were freshmen at LSU…right through having their 2013 graduation party on the patio. We love The Stockade. We have stayed in each of the rooms at one time or another but love Rex when it’s available. We stayed over this past Father’s Day Weekend in The Escape which we love too and it has an awesome new shower! The breakfasts are divine…we had quiche, sausage and bacon, blueberry pancakes, beautiful fresh fruit and juice and all the coffee you could drink. Janice keeps snacks and drinks in the Dining Room at all times and there is a small ice machine too. We have met people from all over the world when staying there. This past trip there were two newlywed couples and a great couple from Miami (we love Miami Beach) so we had lots to chat about. It truly feels like a home away from home…and if ‘you’re not from here’, you’ll get a big dose of Southern Hospitality cause ‘that’s how we do.’ You can wander around the house and the gardens if you like…have your coffee or wine on the patio! Free wifi too! Book early during football season…geaux get spoiled!

This place is absolutely beautiful and we cannot say enough good about it! I booked a reservation of the Garden Room (romance room it was called) with “Red Stick Romance A La Carte” without the dinner. And we were not let down! It was a birthday surprise to my wife. My wife loved the rose petals on the bed, the private balcony, and the Jacuzzi tub. We had iced champagne with a cheese/fruit tray. The food was so tasty and the champagne was very nice – we sipped it on the balcony overlooking the trees. The bed sheets are so comfortable, we will be purchasing a pair our next visit. We will pick this over a hotel any day! Then came the breakfast in bed. Janice, the food was so good! The French toast was our favorite. We also requested mimosas with our breakfast as part of the package (mimosas or bloody marys) and it was a good call! Normally I am not a champagne drinker, but maybe it was the environment or the name of the champagne but I drank just as much as my wife did! Nothing like some mimosas on the balcony to help wake us up and get our day started. All in all it was a great stay and we are very happy we chose The Stockade. It was between them and another B&B, but I was impressed with their website so chose The Stockade – good call! Janice was very nice, the food was amazing, the room was great, and we loved the romance package. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

My family of five stayed in the Rex and Escape Rooms. They were very comfortable, clean and felt like home away from home. Janice was extremely helpful throughout our stay and made the BEST southern grits. We’ll for sure be staying there in the future.

Comfort and character (5-Star Review)
The Stockade was our home away from home 5 years ago when a family illness meant we spent many long weekends in Baton Rouge. It was a joyful homecoming to return after all this time. The comfort of our king size bed and sitting area, the many windows and back patio, a fun and delicious breakfast with interesting guests, and boiled seafood right across the street. Janice is wonderful at making sure you have what you need.

Our favorite B&B (5-Star Review)
Janice, the owner, is fabulous! She has a keen artisitc aestheitc, and we so enjoyed her home, art, antiques and dining room terrazzo floors! Our room was well appointed, large and had a bank of magnificent windows. We’ll be back!

Enjoyed It – Would Stay There Again (5-Star Review)
This was our first stay at a B&B ever. We didn’t know what to expect, but the Stockade was great. We are local but had never heard of the place before we booked it. The staff are nice and we hardly knew they were there except for the great service they provided. There are several great local restaurant within walking distance. Otherwise you will need to drive (though Uber and Lyft are great alternatives) The L’Auberge casino is nearby too. The room was comfy, and there was a nice balcony to sit on in the morning to enjoy the in-room breakfast which was also really good (and we’re picky eaters). I really think that we will stay there again in the future.
