Touted as one of the oldest blues festivals in America, the Baton Rouge Blues Festival is one of Louisiana’s premier music events. It is produced by the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, which is a non-profit organization striving to preserve, promote, and propel the swamp blues and Baton Rouge blues culture. It honors legendary blues artists like Slim Harpo, Rudy Richard, Silas Hogan, Whisperin’ Smith, Guitar Kelly, Schoolboy Cleve, Chewin’ Gum Johnson and Raful Neal. Hometown favorite, legendary Buddy Guy, performed in 2016. Over the years, the festival has brought nationally and internationally recognized musicians to Baton Rouge.
This year’s event will take place on North Boulevard in Downtown Baton Rouge on April 13 – 14, 2019. Besides listening to the music, you can shop the juried art show featuring painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, metal, wood, leather, mixed media, and other media. You’re sure to find something special to take home with you. Besides music, Louisiana is also known for its cuisine, and our Food Show won’t disappoint. There will be many delectable foods for you to try.
This is a free festival, however, if you want the VIP treatment, grab an All-Weekend Experience Pass which includes various accommodations and amenities like complimentary food and beverages, drink tickets, private bars and bathrooms, and exclusive viewing areas for the Swamp Blues and Foundation stages.
